So how did the “Father of Modern Archery” help tube fabricators bend and end form better?

What's the Connection Between Pipe Benders and Archery?

Ben Pearson is legendary in the archery world … widely acknowledged as the father of modern archery, inventing ways to produce bows and arrows that helped archers refine their craft for decades. He hunted the biggest polar bears and grizzlies with his world-renown talent and a bow and arrow!

Later, Ben and the Company employed similar ingenuity in equipment design, helping to perfect cotton pickers, boats, and eventually, shop-scale tube and pipe benders.

Example? With Ben Pearson tube and pipe benders, you can get closer to a perfect 180-degree bend with the extended dies: for example, on a 5” radius die. What you won’t get is a pipe that is crimped or collapsed. The reason for this is very simple – Ben Pearson’s unique die construction eliminates the problem of the pipe locking on the die. This extra feature saves you time and money.

Another example … The Ben Pearson model MC-59 offers two end-of-pipe systems as standard equipment. The segment expander is easy to operate close to the end of the pipe. Plus, the unique bull’s eye gauge, with an accurate and complete O.D. and I.D. setting chart, ensures accurate connections and slip fits. The clamp-down swager system operates on a separate cylinder and gives you the flexibility to swage, flare, ball joint, reduce and flange. In fact, you name the job that needs to be done and this machine can do it.

When Ben Pearson teamed up with Huth in 2008, two premier American-made innovators in bending with a similar philosophy of “It’s all about the customer” came together.

The tradition of innovation continued with three new Ben Pearson bender models. The BP-08 and BP-11 benders incorporate many time-honored Huth features with Ben Pearson tooling. Just watch this video to get an idea of how they work:

Then recently, the combined team created the Fabricator’s dream bending machine (model 3012) This unique design allows operators to make 360-degree bends, as the company figured a way to house the main cylinder below the bending plane. Now tube fabricators have more bending capabilities than ever, as they can bend any arc with the versatility and power of a press bender.
